I believe the ideal watering can for bonsai is to simulate rain.
This is because, just as rain was essential for the emergence of life on Earth, bonsai, which represent a miniature world on a tray, also need to be artificially induced to mimic rain.
According to bonsai documents from the Edo period, it is recorded that rainwater was used to water bonsai using a ladle. The watering cans I make work by scooping rainwater from a jar filled with water, just like a ladle, to simulate rain.
